Obex Foundation’s Schools Programme Launches

England Rugby Legend and World Cup Winner Jason Robinson, Marchon Gym and Obex Dental have teamed up to teach local children about pro-active oral, physical and mental healthcare.

September saw the launch of our Obex Foundation’s Schools Programme, an innovative sponsored programme introducing pro-active healthcare for young minds and bodies.

The challenge many communities face is the disadvantaged or restricted access to clinical or preventative healthcare. The Obex Foundation was founded to address and impact these in communities and schools connected to our practices across Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire.

The Obex Foundation’s Schools Programme focuses on educating pupils about preventative self-health and the importance of being proactive around fitness, movement, nutrition and oral health. Whilst we fund, organise and run this pioneering programme, and others like it, we bring together partners who are experts in their field.

The three selected schools are the Beecroft Academy (Dunstable), St Matthew’s Primary (Luton) and Harpenden Academy (Harpenden) schools.

Obex Dental CEO, Sab Bhandal says, “This programme fills me with great pride, and it is wonderful that we are working with Jason and Marchon’s teams to make a difference to young lives. Through the Obex Foundation, we are funding Jason Robinson’s Sports Stars organisation, and his team of coaches to deliver special PE lessons across the term, with Jason coming to each of this term’s selected schools to talk about the importance of physical fitness. I want to thank Marchon for their invested contribution. I know myself, and the wider Obex Dental team, are excited about contributing to these school’s communities and seeing the difference better oral, physical and nutritional health can make.”

Jason Robinson’s Sport Stars Sporting Achievement Programme was founded from a keen understanding of how in a world of technology-driven activities amongst young people, including social media and gaming, and the epidemic of childhood obesity in the UK, it has never been more important to get our children moving and communicating with others in a way that will keep them physically, emotionally and socially healthy.

Jason Robinson says, “Never has a time been more important than now for physical activity, especially primary schools, we are looking forward to working closely with Sab and his team at Obex Dental in these schools on not only physical health but also oral health, and teaching the children TO BE THE BEST THEY CAN.”

Marchon is a leading gym in the South East. More than just a gym, they are a brand representing excellence in all things fitness, function and fun, incorporating nutritional science, psychology and philosophy into a well-developed learning experience.

Sammy Cooper from Marchon says, “We’re really looking forward to partnering with the Obex Foundation and working with Jason Robinson’s Sports Stars Sporting Achievement Programme, to deliver nutrition education where it’s needed most. We’re really passionate about health and are excited to join a brilliant team doing fantastic things in the local community.”

Joining Jason Robinson and Sammy Cooper will be some of Obex Dental’s team, all trained experts in advice for children on oral health, including Abigail Castle, Mairead Murray, Zara Oliver and Tarryn Jackson. They will be giving children advice, tips and answering questions about preventative oral healthcare in a fun and interactive way.
