Overall job purpose:
Qualified Dental Nurse to support the Head Nurse and Senior Nurse in the day-to-day running of the practice.
Complement the dental team by performing extended duties as per experience and training received and in accordance with the needs of the practice. To act as an essential part of the team, setting the standard for excellence in dental nursing.
Support, mentor and develop trainee Dental nurses to enable them to reach their full potential and deliver training in line with business requirements, processes and standards.
Critical responsibilities:
Patient care: Engage with patients to discuss treatment plans and options as required ensuring a personal and appropriate level of care. Provide dental treatments in accordance with your scope of practice. Manage and track the patient journey. Ensure that patient understands the prognosis and follow-up care required once the initial treatment comes to an end.
Stock: Ensure your surgery is stocked in line with surgery levels and carry out audits of stocks.
Equipment: Support and assist the nursing team whilst maintaining all equipment, reporting and managing any equipment that is not suitable for delivery of treatment. Undertake regular inventories of equipment and instruments.
Training: Direct, train and support other nurses in the practical aspect of nursing including carrying out assessments on nursing staff in preparation for reviews and to identify training needs and requirements. Support the trainee dental nurses with the Obex Trainee Dental Nurse Academy.
Finance: Communicate with the patient in relation to finance options which Obex offers. Explain treatment plans, discuss and investigate account balances with patients.
Clinical Standards: Take shared responsibility for clinical governance carrying out relevant audits and tests on equipment. Ensure that the surgery is maintained in line with Obex clinical standards and that the Health and Safety of all stakeholders is maintained in line with normal clinical standards.
Cleanliness: Monitor surgery cleanliness and that of the overall practice, ensure compliance with appropriate standards and report any areas of concern.
Other: Actively support the wider work and initiatives of Obex and carry our any other duties as required by the role.

External: Suppliers and their representatives, Patients, CQC and Key influencers
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Knowledge and experience
Minimum of 2 years working experience as a dental nurse
Understanding of Patient Plans
Advanced Knowledge of EXACT Dental (SOE) System
Understanding of NHS Dental Contract Management and NHS Rules / Regulations
Comprehensive Understanding of CQC / GDC Rules / Regulations
Education and qualification(s)
NEBDN Dental Nursing Diploma or Dental qualification (NVQ Level 3 or above)
H&S Qualification (desirable)
BDIA introduction to dentistry (desirable)
